Weimer is facing more than a half-dozen charges in Kettering Municipal Court after she brought Montgomery County deputies to her home numerous times.
“I think it’s a little ridiculous that they arrested her for this,” her fiance Nick Bond said Monday night.
Bond said it all started with their complaint to deputies about a neighbor. Then it turned into complaints about the deputies themselves.
He offered this reason for Weimer calling 911 so many times:
“To try and get their attention really. To try and annoy them so much that they finally do their job,” Bond said.
When asked how many times Weimer called 911, Bond said: “I have no idea … too many. Ten, 15 maybe, I don’t know.”
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said it was more than that.
People in Washington Twp. said they were concerned about what repeat calls like that do to emergency resources.
“They should think a little more about other people,” one resident said.
In past years, our I-Team found millions of dollars wasted on abusive 911 calls, including $8 million in 2010.
“I’m not as worried about the taxpayer dollars as if my wife calls and an intruder has come in … and she’s alone … and she can’t fight him off.”
To that end, Bond did agree, but he still defended his fiancee’s actions. “It’s not right tying up 911 like that. … There’s obviously better ways to do it and at this point we exhausted all other options and she did what she felt she needed to do,” he said.
Weimer remains in jail, but her fiance said if is able to get out he would make sure she did not call 911 again.
