A Troy woman is accused of driving on Interstate 70 impaired with a 3-year-old child in the car.

Lea Dillon, 22, was charged in Clark County Municipal Court with children endangering. She was due in court on Friday but has yet to plea in the case and her bond was set at $1,000, according to online court records.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol began their investigation on May 21 when they received a call about a reckless driver going eastbound on I-70, according to an affidavit written by a trooper.

“I was able to witness a red 2010 Chevy Impala … drive off the right side of the road and strike a bridge wall,” the affidavit states.

Troopers made contact with the driver, who they say was uneasy on her feet, her eyes were droopy and she had black streaks on her face, the affidavit says.

“Ms. Dillon was asked where she was going and she stated that she was going to Dayton to Children’s Hospital to take her daughter for surgery on a tooth,” the affidavit says. “Ms. Dillon stated that she also was distraught because someone went through her car and had stolen things from her.”

Troopers administered a field sobriety test and observed several indicators of impairment, the affidavit says.

“Ms. Dillon had difficulty comprehending the instructions and following the stimulus,” the affidavit says.

Troopers arrested Dillon at the scene. A next court date in the case was not set as of Friday afternoon.
