Kodi Weatherspoon, the father of an infant who was partially scalped during a domestic incident last year, has been sentenced to four years in prison as part of a plea agreement.

Weatherspoon pleaded guilty to two counts of felonious assault and one count of child endangering in exchange for the lesser sentence. He was facing a possible 16 and a half year sentence and a $31,000 fine.

According to investigators, he and his wife were fighting inside their Duncan Drive apartment in Xenia on June 5 when Weatherspoon accidentally grabbed his newborn son's head, injuring his scalp. His wife was also injured during the incident. The baby's injuries required surgery at Children's Medical Center of Dayton, but the child has reportedly made a full recovery.

Witherspoon didn't say anything in Greene County Court on Thursday before the sentence was read.

A temporary protection order barring him from contact with his wife and child has also been lifted and his wife has reportedly been open to accommodating contact with his child.
