Dayton-area camera store to close

Dodd Camera will close its Kettering location later this month, leaving the store with two locations in the Dayton area at Miami Twp. and Beavercreek, a store official said.

The Dodd Camera at 14 W. Stroop Road will close March 19. The store, which employed three people, opened at that location in 2005 after previously being located on Far Hills Avenue for 15 years.

The camera specialty store has two Dayton area locations at Austin Landing in Miami Twp. and across from the Greene Town Center on Indian Ripple Road.

The new 3,000-square-foot store at 10725 Innovation Drive in Austin Landing will employs seven to eight people. The company doubled the size of its Beavercreek store at 4408 Indian Ripple Road in 2013 by expanding into an adjacent retail space. The 3,900-square-foot store features a 30-person classroom, store officials said.

The Cleveland-based company has other locations in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati. Dodd Camera purchased Dayton-based Click Camera stores in 2005.
