9 Dayton-area shopping experiences you need to try

Consumers are always looking for the best deals and the best shopping trips.

Here are nine areas that offer something unique in the experiences:

Miami Crossing District

Formerly known as the Dayton Mall, the renamed mall in Miami Twp. has been working to rebuild itself to become more than just a mall.

Miami Crossing has a decade-long plan to build 1,200 multi-family residential units and create more than 350 jobs in retail and office space.

Oregon District

Dayton’s oldest neighborhood is home to several restaurants, small shops and entertainment spots. Whether you’re looking for a laugh at the comedy club or going to rock climb at the indoor facility, Oregon District has a unique flair to it for anyone.

Upper Valley Mall

This mall in Springfield is starting to house more local businesses due to local leaders.

It is looking to open six stores within the next few months as an attempt to breathe life back into the mall.

It has also kept its relatively retro look from when it opened in the 1970s, making it an interesting walking experience.

Night market

This is a great place to go shopping at the farmer’s market if you’re not a morning person.

Open on Fridays at 5 p.m. at the Yellow Cab Building in Dayton, 700 E. 4th St., the Night Market allows you to do your grocery shopping while listening to live music and trying local craft beer.

Traders World

Just off of I-75 in Lebanon is a zoo of antique and small shops that fall under the roof of a single name: Traders World. The massive flea market houses dozens of small vendors that sell anything and everything while open on weekends.

The Greene

A luxury shopping area that provides living and shopping, The Greene opened in 2006. It is among the malls that are reinventing their missions by adding unconventional tenants and offering free and frequent events for the community.

2nd Street Market

This year-round market just east of downtown Dayton on Second Street is a part of Five Rivers MetroParks and home to more than 40 vendors.

Open Thursday through Saturday and Sunday during the summer, this market allows for visitors to get fresh local food in the heart of the city.

Liberty Center

Travelling down I-75 brings you to Liberty Center in Liberty Twp. The colorful indoor/outdoor mall has a modern look with several luxury stores. The mall regularly hosts events for families and adults to form itself into not just a mall, but a community.

Cincinnati Mills

Originally known as Forest Fair Mall, this mall is a relic to when it first opened, featuring vibrant colors and children-themed mascots. Now eerily quiet, the mall has been left with a handful of stores.
