The Memorial Day 2019 tornadoes destroyed homes and upended lives across our region overnight on May 27 last year. On the one-year anniversary on Wednesday, the Dayton Daily News is printing a full-page poster to help readers encourage tornado survivors and honor the Dayton region’s resiliency.
DAYTON STRONG: Memorial Day tornadoes one year later - Slow road to recovery
The newspaper is joining other partners, such as the city of Dayton, in encouraging people to put rainbow images in their windows to represent the light that emerges after a storm. You can download one here, or pick one up in tomorrow’s newspaper. Or simply make your own.

This week, the Dayton Daily News is carrying storm anniversary coverage in print and online. Reporters Chris Stewart and Josh Sweigart, who walked the path of the most devastating tornado last year, have checked again on the pace of recovery and the issues still facing survivors and local jurisdictions.
As part of this coverage, Sweigart will also take online readers to the tornado-damaged Old North Dayton neighborhood on Wednesday in a Facebook live video from the Dayton Daily News Facebook page. Submit your questions about tornado recovery during the video, or email Sweigart ahead of time at Josh.Sweigart@coxinc.com.
