“We are working closely with Seritage, the owner of the Sears space, and all our other stakeholders, on exciting redevelopment opportunities at Dayton Mall,” Duebber said. “While it’s too soon to announce details regarding the potential repositioning of the Sears space, we will announce plans as soon as we are able.”
Maimi Twp. Community Development Director Chris Snyder also said Miami Twp. is working with Seritage on redevelopment options. The Sears store is about 129,000 square feet of the roughly 1.4 million square feet.

“When there is a store closing, it provides an opportunity for us to introduce exciting new brands and options to our guests,” Duebber said. “We announced last month that The RoomPlace will occupy newly created inline space at the Dayton Mall and we continue to see strong demand for space from national and local brands. By providing a mix of things to do and things to buy, Dayton Mall continues to deliver a combination of retail, dining, entertainment, activities and events to keep shoppers engaged and returning often.”
Dayton Mall’s Elder-Beerman store will close Wednesday. The store is just over 200,000 square feet, said the mall’s operations supervisor Brandon McCardle.
