McDonald’s and its franchisees are investing $6 billion to modernize most U.S. restaurants by 2020.

Beginning this year through the end of 2019, McDonald’s plans to update most traditional, stand-alone restaurants to fit the “experience of the future,” said McDonald’s spokesman Phil Saken.

In Ohio specifically, McDonalds plans to invest $251 million to modernize 380 restaurants in 2018 and 2019.

The modernization includes new decor within shops as well as digital self-order kiosks, new table service, digital menu boards in the dining room and drive through, parking spots for curbside pick-up through McDonald’s app and expanded McCafe counters and display cases.

There are around 30 McDonald’s restaurants in the Dayton area.
