Police: Heroin OD suspected after pickup crashes into Wendy’s

A heroin overdose is believed to have caused the driver of a Ford pickup truck to crash into Wendy’s tonight in Dayton, police said.

The driver was found passed out behind the wheel of the truck that struck the restaurant, 1507 Wayne Ave. He was taken to a local hospital, police said.

The drive-through remained open, but the rest of the fast-food eatery was closed following the crash, reported around 7:20 p.m. Damage to the building appeared moderate.

Southbound Wayne Avenue in Dayton is shut down tonight after a car struck Wendy’s.

The crash happened around 7:20 p.m. at the restaurant, 1507 Wayne Ave. The southbound lanes of Wayne Avenue were blocked only in front of Wendy’s.

According to initial reports, the driver of a pickup truck struck the building, causing some damage. Medics were called for the driver.
