“He’s hoping to sell the whole train museum as one thing. So, the whole train display, and the items on the train display, will be sold in one package,” said Bill Balfour, general manager at EnterTRAINment Junction. “Then, whatever is left that hasn’t sold is going to go on sale as part of a liquidation sale.”
Items such as light fixtures, office furniture and kitchen equipment as well as leftover inventory from Junction Hobbies and Toys will be made available to the public for purchase.
The liquidation or close-out sale will run from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. every day Jan. 11-26. The sale is open to the public. A lot of the items will be pre-priced with suggested prices, but there will also be deals made if a buyer purchases multiple items.
“We are all sad to see it go, and we are hoping that we can find a good home for everything,” Balfour said.
Several of the items have already been sold, such as the Halloween Trick or Treat Maze for children and the outdoor, hand-cranked/kid-powered train ride.
EnterTRAINment Junction has been a beloved attraction in Greater Cincinnati since it opened in August of 2008. Oeters has plans to retire after the closure.
“Don always had a dream of opening up the World’s Largest Model Train Display. He was a big model train enthusiast as a child. He opened EnterTRAINment Junction 16 years ago. He just wanted somewhere to share his love of model trains and model train displays, along with providing other attractions that would make the total entertainment venue something for everybody,” said Bill Mefford, spokesperson for EnterTRAINment Junction. “His dream was to make it something for everyone in the family, and I think he succeeded.”
Each year, more than 200,000 guests visited EnterTRAINment Junction.
“We are a family entertainment center in West Chester, Ohio, and we’ve had visitors from all 50 states and 44 foreign countries,” Mefford said. “People really have come from near and far to visit. We have a guest book for visitors to sign as they leave, and the positive comments are off the chart.”
The site, including the 80,000-sq. ft. building and property has been sold to Umiya Dharma and it will be converted into a meeting space and community center. EnterTRAINment Junction is expected to be out of the building by early March.
