Fire evacuates Homewood Suites in Fairborn

A dryer fire sent patrons of the Homewood Suites by Hilton temporarily out of doors Thursday night.

The hotel in the 2700 block of Presidential Drive was evacuated as smoke billowed out of the laundry room area at approximately 7:45 p.m.

A Fairborn fire official told News Center 7 the fire was limited to one dryer, causing an estimated $1,000 in damages.

The hotel was briefly evacuated. An official there said the three-story building was near capacity at the time.

Several of the tenants were Ham radio operators who are in town for Saturday’s Hamvention at Hara Arena.
