Five Guys ranked best burger in America

For those who love burgers with an extra helping of fries, your day just got a whole lot better.

Five Guys been named the Burger Restaurant Brand of the Year in the Harris Poll’s EquiTrend study.

The burger chain, based in Virginia, is known for its made-to-order burgers and fresh-cut fries cooked in peanut oil. Founded in 1986 in Washington D.C., Five Guys has expanded to almost 1,500 stores worldwide.

Five Guys beat out the two-time title holder In-N-Out, which came in second. The top five in the Harris Poll’s study included Shake Shack, Wendy’s, and Culver’s.

The study by EquiTrend used three factors when determining the best burger brand that included familiarity, quality and purchase consideration. The study included more than 10,000 American consumers who assessed 4,000 brands in more than 450 categories, including casual dining, best chicken, electronic stores, luxury department stores and others.

Here are the top burger brands, according to Harris Poll:

1. Five Guys

2. In-N-Out Burger

3. Shake Shack

4. Wendy’s

5. Culver’s

6. Whataburger

7. McDonald’s

8. SONIC America’s Drive-In

9. Smashburger

10. Steak’n Shake
