Wolfe's wife, Patricia, said Wolfe is a wonderful man and a great father and grandfather. She said her husband has been wrongly accused.
Wolfe was charged with first-degree murder. He was accused of killing David Jackson, 24, who was the ex-husband of Wolfe's then-wife in Pembroke Pines, Fla., in 1988.
Sixteen years later, Florida detectives claimed they cracked the case. On Oct. 17 they traveled to Ohio and arrested Wolfe, who had been living in Kettering.
Wolfe said he was not in Florida at the time of Jackson's killing. He said he thought Jackson had disappeared.
In an exclusive interview with NewsCenter 7, Wolfe claimed he is innocent and will fight for justice. Initially, he planned to fight his return to Florida, but on Tuesday he waived his extradition.
Detectives from Florida were in the courtroom on Tuesday ready to escort him back to Florida. Wolfe's wife said she did not get the opportunity to say goodbye to her husband.
If convicted in Florida, Wolfe faces the death penalty.
