How does Dayton crime compare to other Ohio cities? Here’s what the data say

Out of Ohio’s eight largest cities, Dayton’s violent crime rate was fifth last year, and its property crime rate was sixth, according to data from the Office of Criminal Justice Services with the Ohio Department of Public Safety.

Dayton was neither a leader nor ranked last in any single crime category. Dayton ranked lower than Cleveland in every crime category analzyed and ranked lower than Cincinnati in most.

Last year, the city saw marked declines in the major crime categories.
