“The new Premier Health Center at Union Village will offer primary care, orthopedic, and cardiology services through Premier Physician Network providers; imaging services; CompuNet lab services; a Premier Health Urgent Care; and an occupational health services center,” according to a joint press release announcing the project.

A health center has long been part of the plan for Union Village, a planned community under construction on 1,230 acres across from Otterbein’s main campus on Ohio 741 in Turtlecreek Twp.

The renovation and reuse of the former Otterbein headquarters, built in 1989 and known as the Dilgard Building, “also can help connect residents to additional services at Premier Health’s Atrium Medical Center in nearby Middletown,” according to the release.

The $1.5 million health center is scheduled to open in the summer of 2021 and serve a “growing demand of residents of Otterbein Lebanon, Union Village, the city of Lebanon, and other nearby communities,” Mary Boosalis, president and CEO of Premier Health, said in the release. “The quality and convenience of Premier Health’s array of health services will nicely complement the innovative, ‘new urban’ concept embraced by Union Village.”

Otterbein welcomed the health center plan.

“We are excited that Premier Health has chosen the Union Village location to serve as an extension of their exceptional comprehensive health care system. This location will serve the surrounding community but also provide a convenient, high-quality health care option to our Otterbein Lebanon residents,” Jill Wilson, the president and chief executive of Otterbein SeniorLife, said.

No impact is expected on the clinic or other medical facilities across Ohio 741 on the Otterbein campus, according to Gary Horning, vice president of marketing and communications for Otterbein.

Otterbein’s headquarters is moving a short distance south on Ohio 741 into the Center Building in the Union Village Towne Center.

Otterbein staff moved into the new building before Thanksgiving, according to Horning. About 10 staffers are working there, due to COVID-19 restrictions, while most staffers are working remotely.

In addition to the Center Building, where a restaurant, bank and post office for Union Village residents are to be developed, teams have begun to play on fields at the Warren County Sports Park at Union Village. The first phase of homes and townhomes of the community is also under construction.
