Krispy Krunchy ‘gas station chicken’ is expanding like CRAZY

Krispy Krunchy Chicken — affectionately known locally as "gas-station chicken" — had a banner year in 2017, and rest assured that Miami Valley fried-chicken enthusiasts did their part to fuel that growth.

The national chain, based in Lafayette, Louisiana, “finished 2017 with another year of tremendous growth, opening another 509 stores, to bring their global locations number to 2,294,” the company announced.

Krispy Krunchy added a Dayton-area location in Bellbrook just five months ago, at the Bellbrook Marathon gas station and convenience store at 4491 State Route 725 East at Wilmington Pike.

According to Krispy Krunchy Chicken's web site, Krispy Krunchy Chicken can also be found at the Town & Country Shell station at 3960 Far Hills Ave. at Strooop Road in Kettering; in Springfield at Doc's Drive Thru & Grocery at 908 W. North St.; and at 27 S. Dorset Road in Troy. You can check for Krispy Krunchy locations on the chain's web site.

“It has been another year of bringing our brand to thousands of chicken lovers across the world,” Neal Onebane, founder and CEO of Krispy Krunchy Chicken, said in a release. “As big as 2017 was for us, we have even bigger plans for 2018 and look forward to the opportunities this next year will bring.”

In 2017, Krispy Krunchy Chicken sold 14 million Chicken Breasts, 24.5 million Chicken Wings, 20 million Chicken Thighs, and 20 million Chicken Legs.

The chain operates in 41 states, and in Malaysia and American Samoa. Established in 1989, Krispy Krunchy Chicken was developed out of the founder’s convenience store chain.
