A Dayton-area brewery is ready to make a big move.

Eudora Brewing Company announced today that Sunday, Oct. 28, will be its last day at its current location,  4716 Wilmington Pike in Kettering.

It plans to open at its new facility, 3022 Wilmington Pike, in about a month.

The brewery posted the following to Facebook:

ATTENTION! This will be Eudora's final week of business in our current location. We will be ceasing operations in our 4716 Wilmington location on Sunday, Oct. 28th at 8pm in order to move things down the road to our new facility.  We hope to only be down for about a month, but we aren't making any promises as to when we'll be opening the new place. We want to make sure we have enough beer for our opening as well as a well-prepared kitchen/bar staff at the ready, so we can hit the ground running!  Stop by this week/weekend to grab one last pint (or three) before we move down the road!

As we first reported in May, the brewery plans to have a kitchen in the new facility.

A Dayton-area brewery has submitted plans to move to a much larger space down the street, and if all goes well, will offer food prepared in its own kitchens and twice as many beers from its taps.

Neil Chabut has submitted plans to the city of Kettering's Planning Commission to move the brewery he founded, Eudora Brewing Company, from its current location at 4716 Wilmington Pike to 3022 Wilmington Pike, just south of East Dorothy Lane. The space previously housed a roofing supplies company, and, before that, operated for several years as a Pep Boys auto shop.

The project is in its early phases, and still must navigate zoning and permit issues. Chabut told this news outlet today, Wednesday, May 2, that the projected cost of the project will reach about $1.4 million, to be financed through a combination of private investors and a Small Business Administration Loan on which he has not yet closed.

But Chabut said the new site will be a perfect fit for his brewery and its growth needs. And if all goes well, construction would last four to five months, and the new brewery could open as early as this fall.

"It's the next step for us — we're out of space where we are now, that's for sure," Chabut said. "I can't make beer fast enough."

The new 20,000-square-foot space would allow Eudora to seat between 100 and 150 in its tap room and to at least double the number of taps from 10 to 20 or 24, Chabut said. It will have a kitchen, and plans call for serving a menu of sandwiches, salads and other casual fare.

The brewery will also be able to expand its customer-brewing capacity and to offer a conference room and other special-events spaces, the Eudora owner said.

Eudora will step up its distribution of kegs to bars and restaurants, but has no immediate plans to start canning or bottling for widespread retail distribution.

“The retail market is saturated right now with craft beer, so we want to wait and see how that shakes out,” Chabut said.

The 2007 Fairmont High School and 2011 University of Dayton graduate said staying in Kettering was an important consideration in searching for a new location for the brewery he founded in late 2013.

“I love Kettering. I grew up here, and I didn’t want to go anywhere else. I want to support this community. And I’m glad we found this space.”
