Shaw said he met with councilman Glenn Otto and property management company JLL on Aug. 31, the date Elder-Beerman’s parent company was court ordered to finish months-long liquidation sales after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February.It was also two days after the Huber Heights Elder-Beerman at shut its doors.
“I really didn’t want to see that facility sit there empty and go for a long time without being occupied,” Shaw said.
At Home will be leasing the property, Shaw said. The owner of the building is American Realty Capital, according to Montgomery County records.

At Home opened a new location earlier in January on Indian Ripple Road in Beavercreek in a former Kmart

There are other local Elder-Beerman stores currently sitting vacant in Kettering, Piqua, at the Dayton Mall and at the Mall at Fairfield Commons. No plans have been announced for those locations.
