Kanye West seeking to be on Ohio ballot for president

After that, the Ohio Secretary of State will determine if West and his vice presidential candidate Michelle Tidball qualify for the Nov. 3 general election ballot.

Tidball, a life coach and former dental office employee, and West each own ranches in Cody, Wyoming, according to the Cody Enterprise.

West is trying to get on the ballot in several battleground states.

West is a big fan of President Donald Trump. So how would running as an independent help Trump?

Political consultant Derrick Clay, a Democrat, said it’s designed to appeal to millennial voters and suburban voters and attempt to pull Black voters away from Biden. “I don’t think it’s going to work. I think it could backfire,” Clay said.

Voters are smart enough to see through it, he said. “This Kayne West candidacy is a total joke.”

University of Dayton political scientist Christopher Devine said he doesn’t see West winning many votes or driving turnout in Ohio. Those who may cast a ballot for West might not like either major party candidate, he said.

“I suspect that many, if not most, of West’s votes will come at the expense of minor party and write-in candidates, rather than Biden or Trump,” Devine said.
