VIDEO: Watch Kettering superintendent talk about expansion
Ken Lackey, the school district’s director of business services, is scheduled to make a report on the facilities plans at tonight’s school board meeting at the Fairmont High School Recital Hall. The meeting starts at 5 p.m., but features a closed executive session on a different topic before Lackey’s report.
Possible plans the district has mentioned include building an addition onto Fairmont High School to house extra career tech programs, and expanding some elementary schools to make classroom space for all-day kindergarten.

In addition, the district already announced plans to take its administrative offices out of the Barnes building on Far Hills Avenue and move them this summer to an office complex on Lincoln Park Boulevard across from Fraze Pavilion. Meanwhile, Fairmont’s multi-million-dollar auditorium on Shroyer Road is getting closer to completion.
Funding for the building projects is coming from a March 2016 permanent improvement levy, while money to staff the kindergarten and career tech expansions comes from the Nov. 6 operating levy.
