Kohl’s fulfillment center is not accepting in-person applications
Kohl’s Department Stores has told the JournalNews it plans to hire for 1,100 seasonal jobs at the company’s Monroe e-commerce fulfillment center.
The news comes on the heels of the Menomonee Falls, Wisc.-based retailer’s announcement last week that it is hiring more than 50,000 workers nationwide ahead of the holidays. Kohl’s said Sept. 19 that it is hiring at its 1,158 stores, 11 distribution centers and credit operations in preparation for the busy holiday shopping season.
Not only do the hiring plans mean seasonal job opportunities at area Kohl’s stores, the holidays also mean seasonal job openings at Kohl’s local fulfillment center, 3500 Salzman Road, to fill customer orders online. Workers at the fulfillment center prepare, process and ship online orders.
All 1,100 jobs for which Kohl’s is hiring at the local distribution center are temporary, spokeswoman Sydney Hofer said. Jobs are available in multiple shifts, with flexible hours, Hofer said. Wage information was not disclosed.
Distribution center hiring began in August, and is ongoing until the jobs are filled, Hofer said. Positions are still available. To apply, go online to kohlscareers.com/distribution.
Applicants must be at least 18-years-old and be able to lift up to 30 pounds, according to Kohl’s.
One job posted online as being available in Monroe is for a seasonal warehouse material handler. Hires will work up to 40 hours through Nov. 23 and work 48 hours beginning Nov.24, according to the job description online. Seasonal material handler positions will end on or before Jan. 4, reads the online job description.
Material handler job functions may include order consolidation, picking, packing, replenishment, shipping, receiving, inventory and re-warehousing, according to the company.
Unlike last year, Kohl’s Monroe fulfillment center is not holding an on-site job fair this season. Job seekers are asked to apply online or with the help of local job centers, such as Workforce One of Butler County.
The Monroe distribution center typically employs between 850 and 1,000 people, Kohl’s spokespeople have previously said.
Online sales represent 7 percent of the company’s total sales, according to Kohl’s. Online sales increased 28 percent year-over-year in the fiscal second quarter ending Aug. 3, Kohl’s executives told investors last month in discussing quarterly earnings.
