No injuries have been reported.
A section of hillside behind homes on Oregon Street slid down into the wall along Baum Street, city officials said. At least one home on Baum Street had large sections of the wall embedded into the rear of the structure after the collapse.
Several decks along Oregon Street are also in danger, including the deck at the City View Tavern where, according to Art Dahlberg who directs the city’s buildings department, “the safety of the deck has been severely compromised.” He has ordered the area shored up to prevent further movement.
More rain is expected in the area over the next few days, worrying residents about further damage.
“There are two more houses down there; there’s two more developments over there,” Jim Hanauer told WCPO. “Before we know it, it might be Flat Adams instead of Mount Adams.”
