DPS transportation director dies during Florida vacation

Dayton Public Schools had a driver shortage last year. The district spread out its school start times, so they could cover the same schools with fewer drivers.

Dayton Public Schools had a driver shortage last year. The district spread out its school start times, so they could cover the same schools with fewer drivers.

Dayton Public Schools today announced the passing of its director of transportation.

Michael Rosenberger died earlier this week while on vacation in Florida after a brief illness, according to a DPS news release.

Since July 2006, Rosenberger led the more than 200-employee department, overseeing safe pickup and delivery of students from kindergarten through eighth grade.

No services are scheduled at this time.
