JANUARY: Trotwood seeks input on superintendent search
“The Board of Education is especially pleased with the candidates as they each bring different qualities from their experiences,” school board President Denise Moore said in a letter to school district stakeholders Friday. “Currently we are working through the selection process and expect to make a decision in the very near future.”
The school board is expected to hold a special meeting Tuesday, Feb. 25, but no agenda has been published.
Marlon Howard has served as acting superintendent in Trotwood this year, after previous superintendent Tyrone Olverson resigned two weeks before the start of the school year. Howard informed the board that he would not seek the position on a long-term basis, and will return to his role as operations director.

Moore’s letter said 14 people applied for the superintendent job, and after a screening process, the board interviewed the three finalists.
Also Wednesday, those three candidates met for an hour with a broad group of two dozen people that included parents, students, administrators, teachers and other school staff, plus representatives of city government, clergy and the business community.
For the past five years, Hockenberry has been superintendent at Three Rivers, a district of 2,400 students anchored by Taylor High School. He spent 15 years as principal at Oyler School in Cincinnati.

Cosby has been superintendent at Mount Healthy for five years after serving as principal of Wayne High School in Huber Heights for eight years. She also worked as a teacher and grant writer for Dayton Public Schools.
Jones resigned after one year as Euclid superintendent in August for personal reasons, according to media reports. He was an administrator in Springfield schools for six years before that, including time as high school principal.
