“We recognize and honor your important work in preparing students for successful careers and meaningful lives,” U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos said in a video message to the honorees. “As a National Blue Ribbon School, your school demonstrates what is possible when committed educators hold all students and staff to high standards and create vibrant, innovative cultures of teaching and learning.”
The Dayton Regional STEM School is an independent, public school serving over 600 students in grades 6-12 from seven counties and 35 school districts throughout the community. School officials said their Class of 2019 boasted a 100% graduation rate, with 70% of graduates pursuing a college major in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math fields.
For Minster, a rural junior-senior high school of just over 400 students, this is their second National Blue Ribbon honor, after earning the designation in 2004. The Minster school district as a whole was one of only 5 percent in Ohio to earn an overall “A” on the recent state report card, and ranked 15th of 608 school districts in state test performance.

Now in its 37th year, the National Blue Ribbon Schools program has bestowed recognition on more than 9,000 schools. On Nov. 14-15, the Department of Education will celebrate with 312 public and 50 non-public school honorees at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.
