The project included widening the two-lane road and installing curb, gutter and storm sewers from Social Row Road to the south end of Oak Grove Park.

Resurfacing took place along the project area and also beyond it to the Warren County line. A $200,000 grant from the Ohio Public Works Commission helped offset the cost of the $822,000 project, according to Public Works Director Mike Wanamaker, who noted that construction began earlier in the summer after spring utility work.

“Gebhart provides one of two access points to Oak Grove Park,” Wanamaker said.

Township Administrator Jesse Lightle said the project was a necessary investment made to improve the township’s infrastructure.

“We appreciate the patience of our residents and motorists as the improvements were being completed,” Lightle said. “The township is happy to continue to invest in our infrastructure for our community.”

According to the Centerville-Washington Park District, Oak Grove Park is a well visited destination, which makes the road improvement project helpful to the many visitors who are attempting to gain entrance into the park.

The park district said the 102-plus acre park has several different type of recreation opportunities such as soccer fields, including a stadium with lighting.

Several of the other attractions — baseball diamonds, tennis courts, two playgrounds, picnic shelters, a dog park, paths for walking or jogging, and a fitness trail with two types of outdoor exercise equipment, along with a pond and dock for fishing — bring in plenty of traffic year-round, and the two-lane road will help ease the traffic flow.
