“The proposed developer for the 511 N. Broadway site has requested that the city move forward with the construction of an amphitheater on the Berry School lawn to help connect the North Broadway Corridor with the core of the city’s downtown area,” Lebanon City Manager Scott Brunka said in an email this morning.

Lebanon has been working to develop North Broadway leading from the historic downtown to the fairgrounds.
A developer is proposing a $15 million housing and restaurant development on land between Berry and land the city is expected to buy on the county fairgrounds on Broadway.
“The Downtown Master Plan recommends utilizing the front lawn of Berry School for public space such as a park or cultural venue,” Brunka added.
He is scheduled to discuss this with the Lebanon school board at their meeting at 5:30 p.m. today and with city council during a work session to begin at 7 p.m."as part of their overall review of the development proposal."
“At this point, the amphitheater idea is very conceptual, and no decisions have been made by either the school board or the city to move forward with it. We are evaluating the request that has been made as part of the overall development proposal,” Brunka concluded.

The school was Lebanon High School and the location of the movie, “Harper Valley PTA.”
It has reopened after an extensive renovation.
The school board meets at 700 Holbrook Ave., city council meets at city hall, 50 S. Broadway.
