ARC also achieved a live release rate of 92.1 percent for the month, Director Robert Gruhl said.
The live release rate is calculated by dividing the number of live outcomes from adoptions, transfers and return to owner cases by total outcomes (live outcomes plus euthanasia).
Staff also continues to work hard to identify stray dogs who come from areas affected by the Memorial Day tornadoes. To allow owners more time to claim their pets, the shelter increased the hold period from three to 10 days for unlicensed dogs from those areas. The extended hold period will remain in effect through Monday, Gruhl said.

Also, shelter staff has completed 110 of the 174 recommendations from "top-to-bottom review by Team Shelter USA, which visited the shelter in November.
