Kettering city manager suffers medical condition, interim leader named

Schwieterman has worked for the city more than 30 years serving as budget manager and assistant city manager before being named city manager in 2006. Last November, he signed a new four-year contract.

No further details have been released on his condition.

City Council voted to make the move after amending its meeting agenda to add a resolution naming Bergstresser as acting city manager and Police Chief Chip Protsman as a successor acting city manager in case of Bergstresser’s absence.

According to Law Director Ted Hamer, the resolution is required to satisfy the paperwork requirements for a recently passed bond issue refinancing dealing with the parks and recreation facilities.

Hamer said it is necessary to formally confirm the acting city manager so that there is no question about the authority to sign the new bonds or related material.
