This is a timeline of events regarding the 2012 presidential race Nov. 6, 2012, from Cox Media Group Ohio.
12:55 a.m.: Romney gives concession speech, thanking the voters and asking for support of all leaders.
12:49 a.m.: Romney calls Obama to concede.
12:44 a.m.: CBS News reports Romney will take stage for concession speech around 12:55 a.m.
12:36 a.m.: The Associated Press declares Obama the winner in Virginia. AP also declared Obama winner of Montana.
12:10 a.m.: With 92 percent of votes reported, Obama continues to narrowly lead the Ohio vote.
11:51 p.m.: The Associated Press declared Obama wins Nevada. Florida remains uncalled. Romney has not conceded.
11:50 p.m.: The Associated Press has called the election. Obama wins the U.S. presidency.
11:48 p.m.: The Associated Press declares Obama the winner in Wisconsin and Colorado.
11:33 p.m.: NBC, CBS, FOX, NY Times and Washington Post all have declared Obama as the winner.
11:14 p.m.: NBC News says it projects Obama winner of Presidential election.
11:13 p.m.: NBC News has called Ohio for Obama.
11:10 p.m.: CNN calls Iowa and New Mexico for Obama.
11:07 p.m.: CBS News says New Mexico favors Obama. CNN reports Democrats will retain leadership of the U.S. Senate.
11 p.m.: The AP says Obama has won Calinfornia, Washington and Hawaii, while Romney wins Idaho.
10:56 p.m.: The Associated Press has called North Carolina in favor of Romney and Minnesota in favor of Obama.
10:52 p.m.: NBC News says Romney is taking Missouri.
10:50 p.m.: CBS affiliates report Romney has taken Nebraska; NBC News projects Minnesota is going to Obama.
10:43 p.m.: The Associated Press has called Arizona for Romney and Maine for Obama.
10:34 p.m.: NBC News projects Romney as winner in Arizona.
10:33 p.m.: Polls close at 11 p.m. EST in California, Hawaii, Idaho, Orgeon and Washington.
10:31 p.m.: CBS News projects Obama has won Minnesota.
10:11 p.m.: CBS News is reporting Missouri has gone to Romney.
10:05 p.m.: The Associated Press calls New Hampshire for Obama. Fox News, other media outlets call Utah, Montana in favor of Romney.
10:03 p.m.: With 36 percent of Ohio precincts reporting, Obama is leading the state by about 4 percent.
10 p.m.: At this time, three major media outlets have three different electoral vote total projections. CNN reports 152-143 in favor of Romney; NBC projects 158-153 for Obama, and Fox News says it's a 153 tie.
9:54 p.m.: ABC projects Obama will win Minnesota.
9:51 p.m.: The Associated Press calls Pennsylvania for Obama; NBC projects Obama as winner in New Hampshire.
9:45 p.m.: Montgomery County Board of Elections says workers are rushing ballots from across Montgomery County to the Board of Elections for counting. Director Steve Harsman said the results will come in 15 minute increments as they're dropped off. "We will conclude the count around 1 or 2 in the morning with change and have about 95 percent of that count around 11:30 or 12 o clock," he said. "Over all it was a very, very successful election here in Montgomery County," he said. The last poll to close in the county was at Aldersgate Church in Huber Heights where a roughly hourlong line filed through after 7:30 p.m.
9:42 p.m.: Some media outlets reporting Wisconsin, a battleground state, is going to Obama.
9:41 p.m.: CNN projects Pennsylvania won by Obama.
9:33 p.m.: CBS projects Obama will win New Hampshire.
9:29 p.m.: Fox News, NBC News project Obama as winner in Wisconsin.
9:25 p.m.: The Associated Press announces Sherrod Brown has won over Josh Mandel in Ohio race for U.S. Senate.
9:25 p.m.: Most media outlets reporting Ohio, New Hampshire, Wisconsin leaning toward Obama.
9:16 p.m.: CBS, Fox News projects Obama will win Pennsylvania.
9:14 p.m.: ABC, CNN reporting that Republicans will retain control of the House of Representatives.
9:08 p.m.: USA Today shows Obama winning New York, Mississippi; Romney winning Nebraska, Wyoming, Kansas, Louisiana, South Dakota, Texas and North Dakota.
9:05 p.m.: CNN projects seven more states for Romney: Kansas, Louisiana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Wyoming and Mississippi.
9 p.m.: Fox News reports Obama is leading Florida.
8:52 p.m.: ABC News projects Romney will win Mississipi.
8:52 p.m.: Polls close at 9 p.m. in Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
8:47 p.m.: CBS News projects President Barack Obama has 78 electoral votes, Governor Mitt Romney has 88. Tweeting information using hashtag #Campaign2012.
8:46 p.m.: The Washington Post says exit polls show Ohio going to Obama.
8:40 p.m.: CBS News says New Jersey goes to Obama, Arkansas to Romney.
8:36 p.m.: Vote counting in Virginia is suspended due to long lines.
8:31 p.m.: CNN says Obama leading Ohio.
8:30 p.m.: CNN, CBS say Romney will win Arkansas, Tennessee.
8:25 p.m.: CBS News changes Ohio's "too close to call" label and says it is now leaning in favor of Obama.
8:24 p.m.: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution says Romney has won Georgia.
8:22 p.m.: The Associated Press declares Romney winner in Tennessee.
8:14 p.m.: CNN projects Romney as winner in Georgia.
8:12 p.m.: In Montgomery County, an area experts have said could be one of five counties in the nation to decide the presidential election, absentee votes show 63 percent in favor of Obama, 36 percent for Romney, and 0.5 percent for Gary Johnson.
8:07 p.m.: The Associated Press has called Illinois, Connecticut, Maine, Washington D.C., Deleware, Rhode Island, Maryland, Massachusetts for Obama; Romney wins Oklahoma.
8:03 p.m.: NPR calls Mississippi and Oklahoma for Romney.
8 p.m.: Projections and calls: Romney has won West Virginia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Georgia, Indiana. Obama has won Vermont, Florida. States too close to call include Ohio, Virginia and North Carolina. ABC News projects Obama will win Massachusetts, Illinois, Maryland, Rhode Island, Delaware and District of Columbia. Romney will win Oklahoma, ABC News projects.
7:49 p.m. Early results indicate Obama is winning Florida.
7:41 p.m.: NBC News projects Ohio, Virginia and North Carolina are too close to call. NBC News, Fox News, CNN reporting Romney is winner in South Carolina.
7:32 p.m.: CBS News projects Romney will win West Virginia.
7:30 p.m.: CNN exit polling says Romney has likely won West Virginia.
7:28 p.m.: The Associated Press has called Kentucky, in favor of Romney.
7:23 p.m.: NBC News is reporting the race in Virginia is too close to call.
7:14 p.m.: NPR is calling Georgia and South Carolina for Romney.
7:04 p.m: CNN, Fox News reporting Romney as winner in Indiana, Kentucky; Obama winner in Vermont.
7 p.m.: Polls have closed in Vermont, Florida, Virgina, New Hampshire, Georgia and South Carolina. They close in Ohio at 7:30 p.m.
6 p.m.: Polls in Indiana and Kentucky have closed.
5:30 p.m.: CBS reports national exit polling results: 60 percent of voters' most important issue is the economy. Health care and the budget deficit trail at 17 and 15 percent.
5 p.m.: Major media outlets are preparing to have initial indicators after polls begin to close on the east coast, shortly after 7 p.m. Most boards of elections will release absentee ballot numbers first. This story will have the local presidential and vice presidential results as often as the local boards release the numbers. Visit this story often for the latest.
