Horan said he hopes to open a Dayton-area franchise, perhaps in Centerville or Washington Twp., by September or October. He’s working with real estate agents to review prospective sites now, he said.
“We’re just at the beginning of the process,” Horan said Tuesday.
The idea is to return to the great South Philly-style pretzels he knew growing up on the East Coast. Horan, a former internal auditor for NCR, has lived in New York, New Jersey and elsewhere, and he went to school in Philadelphia.
“I got exposed to a lot of different flavors and tastes in all the different cities I would visit,” Horan said. “I’ve always loved pretzels.”
When he visited a Philly Pretzel Factory franchise outside Philadelphia about two years ago, his eyes were opened. The chain prides itself on hot, out-of-the-oven pretzels.
“They were some of the best I’ve ever had,” Horan said. “They had five or six different unique tastes with the different products they have out there.”
