Local sports bar to celebrate 25 years with a week of special events

A local sports bar has made it to the quarter-century mark, and will celebrate with a week’s worth of special events.

"To celebrate 25 years at Bolt's Sports Café, we have partnered with Northmont Band and the Football boosters to help raise money for their organizations," a Bolts spokesperson said. In addition, a series of raffles throughout the week will raise money for the Weebolts peewee football and cheer programs.

Bolts is located at 910 S. Main St. and is owned and operated by Jack Maio and his family.

Maio said in an email: “Time flies when you’re doing what you love. It wouldn’t be possible without my wonderful employees and loyal customers.

“We will continue to do what we do best, work hard at serving great food at good prices. We look forward to evolving with our new deli opening for lunch and hope to see you along our way the next 25 years.”

The Bolts Fest starts Tuesday, Aug. 22 and runs through Sunday, Aug. 27.

Here’s a summary of the events, provided in an email:

“Tuesday is our dart tournament, starting at 7 p.m., and entry fee is $10.

“Wednesday is Euchre tournament at 7 p.m. and the entry fee is $7.

“Thursday is our pool tournament at 7 p.m., and entry is $10.

“Friday is the first round of cornhole and Alumni night at 7 p.m.

“Saturday is the second round of cornhole at 1 p.m. Entry fee is $10 a team. A Monte Carlo event is planned for 7 p.m.

“Sunday wraps up with a golf outing at Meadowbrook Golf Club at 11 a.m., and entry is $40. The cornhole finals are at 1 p.m., and there will be a corn-on-the-cob eating contest at 3 p.m., entry fee $5. There will also be a pig roast on Sunday.

"The Northmont Thunderback Club is getting all the proceeds from the Monte Carlo event, and the Northmont Band is getting the proceeds from the cornhole tournament."

There will be a $500 prize for the winning team in the cornhole competition, the Bolts spokesperson said.
