Springboro police were with the students and staff while officers searched the building. The sweep was finished just before 9 p.m., and nothing was found.
Two 911 hangup calls made to the Springboro police were traced to a cellphone near the junior high, and at 8:11 p.m. a 911 caller claimed there was a weapon or gun at the school dance. This call came from a student and the threat was deemed not credible, Marshall said.

The district sent out phone calls, text messages and emails to parents about the incident, and again when they could come to pick up their children.
The incident remains under investigation.
