A St. Marys woman will not face charges after she said she shot and killed her husband earlier this month in self-defense.

"My husband's been beating me. I just killed him,” Stephanie Sweigart told 911 dispatchers.  "He was beating me. He was going to kill me. He had a knife."

Stephanie Sweigart’s husband Wesley Sweigart was found dead Feb. 8 inside the house in the 200 block of Pershing Drive.

Stephanie Sweigart was taken into custody following the shooting.  A grand jury declined to indict her for the shooting, the prosecutor's office said.

She told dispatchers she was assaulted in the living room of the house and her husband told her to go back to the bedroom, according to the call.

"He told me that if I didn't go…he was going to hurt me.  He was going to stab me,” Stephanie Sweigart told dispatchers.
