The Alfred Angelo Bridal store near the Dayton Mall has closed, leaving brides scrambling pick up dresses already purchased from the store.

Customers worried about their wedding and/or bridesmaid dresses are being told by employees of the now-closed Alfred Angelo Bridal store in Miamisburg to call customer service at 888-218-0044 or email predmond@stearnsweaver.com.

Holly Fudge, a Kettering resident, said she has two friends who bought dresses from the store. Fudge said they sent her to Miamisburg for the shipments. One friend has been able to get all of her dress, Fudge said, the other has not.

The second friend got really lucky, Fudge said, because she was told the second friend's wedding dress has been shipped to Miamisburg. The second friend had put 60 percent down and the Alfred Angelo shop will be giving it to her for that price, Fudge said.

"We thought it was a hoax on the Internet," she said.

Rick Philpot, of Monroe, said he is out several bridesmaid's dresses. He was at the Miamisburg location Thursday afternoon.

There were at least three Alfred Angelo Bridal stores in Ohio -- Miamisburg, Dublin and Boardman. There are other stores and specialty shops that carry the label.

Our partner, The Palm Beach Post, reported Thursday that employees at Alfred Angelo's corporate office in Delray Beach, Fla., left the building en masse, carrying boxes, plants and other personal belongings, as social media talk swirled that the bridal retailer was closing its doors.

The scene came amid buzz on social media saying the the company, founded in 1933 by Alfred Angelo Piccione and Edythe Vincent Piccione, was going out of business. From Twitter to online message boards, anxious brides posted queries and alerts, but few found answers.

By late Thursday afternoon, the company's Delray corporate on the fourth floor of a building on Congress Avenue at Linton Boulevard, was void of employees. Some offices still had desks and supplies and framed posters of wedding dresses hung on the walls.

The Miamisburg location closed for good at 8 p.m. Thursday.
