‘All clear’ given at Grandview Medical Center

UPDATE @ 8:55 p.m.: An "all clear" has been given at Grandview Medical Center, ending the bomb threat that prompted law enforcement to respond to the facility.

Elizabeth Long, spokeswoman for hospital that is part of the Kettering Health Network, said someone called in a threat. “We followed the policies and procedures we have” for that kind of incident, she said, noting that all area hospitals follow similar, if not the same, procedures.

The Grandview Medical Center Police Department worked closely with Dayton police and Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies in checking the campus and everyone who entered or exited the building, Long said.

The hospital was never closed, she said.

UPDATE @8:15 p.m.:

A sergeant at Montgomery County Regional Dispatch confirms that a bomb threat has prompted the heavy Dayton police and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office response at Grandview Medical Center.

FIRST REPORT

Several Dayton police officers and Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies have been called to Grandview Medical Center and we’re working to find out why.

The hospital apparently is closed to the public right now and there are several Dayton police cruisers and Montgomery County sheriff’s cruisers in the front parking lot.

All that was heard over the police/fire scanners was a comment that no one was being allowed to go inside Grandview, in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue. Our videographer has confirmed that part of the incident.

A K-9 unit is checking the perimeter of the building as well as every vehicle in the parking lot.

A nurse tells us she spoke with a hospital security officer who declined to say anything about what might be occurring at the hospital.

Police have shooed us off the property and we’re hoping for an official word from Dayton police Lt. Mark Ponichtera.

We’ll update this developing report as we get information. Stay with whio.com for breaking news.
