Francy Majo, 19, was arrested and charged with murder in connection to Renner’s death after police said he admitted that evidence collected from a trash dumpster as part of the homicide investigation “were his, and that he had discarded them in the dumpster,” according to an affidavit filed in Celina Municipal Court Thursday.
Majo appeared for his arraignment Friday morning, where the court set his bond at $1 million and a not guilty plea was entered for him, according to records.
Renner’s sister said she doesn’t know why someone would have targeted her sister.
“I don’t understand why,” said Melissa Jackson. “I really don’t know who would do a thing to her. She would never hurt anybody. She is a very sweet girl.”
Police wrote in the affidavit that Majo “had walked to Renner’s apartment, had stabbed and killed her and then left the scene.” The killing may have happened “a few days before,” according to the affidavit.
Police said Renner was known to be hearing impaired as they had spoken with her on other occasions.

Francy Majo, 19, was arrested for murder in connection to the case. He is being held in the Mercer County Jail on a $1 million bond.
“There was definitely foul play involved,” Sgt. Kyle Dues, Coldwater police, said. “There was no stone left unturned. Throughout the investigation Mr. Majo became a prime suspect and discovery of some things on the search warrant led to his arrest.”
Dues said the two search warrants served were for apartments next door to the victim’s. The victim lived alone.
Majo was staying in one of the neighboring apartments, but Dues would not say who he lived with.
“I feel like at this time we have a really good case; it’s pretty ironclad,” Dues said. “This is not typical for our area at all.”
Dues said some items were seized from the scene, but he would not say what types of items or any indicators of how Renner died.
