The Arrow Wine & Spirits Far Hills store in Kettering will be one of only eight state liquor stores in Ohio that will offer a special Woodford Reserve "Buckeye Blend" bottling for sale this Friday, May 3.

Bottles go on sale at 9 a.m. Friday — "just in time for the Kentucky Derby," Ohio Division of Liquor Control Superintendent Jim Canepa wrote in the Ohio Liquor Insiders Bulletin.

Each store will receive 54 one-liter bottles, one-third larger than the standard 750-ml “fifth.” The cost for each bottle will be $49.99 plus tax.

“We chose four batches, specifically for our bourbon aficionados in Ohio with the help of (Woodford Reserve) Assistant Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall,” Canepa wrote.

Here’s how the division of liquor control described the particular batch of Woodford Reserve that will be available at Arrow: “Tasting notes of warm cinnamon brown sugar and cedarwood. Its aroma brings a mouth-watering cherry apple pie and roasted coffee sprinkled with nutmeg.”

This is the second time the Ohio Division of Liquor Control has partnered with Woodford Reserve, and this week’s blend has been named Buckeye Blend No. 2. Buckeye Blend No. 1 was released in January 2018.
