As tornado victims work to rebuild, many are wanting to plant new trees to replace the ones lost during the storm.

News Center 7's Monica Castro was in Beavercreek with the details of a program helping to do that.

Beaver Creek Wetlands Association provided nearly 250 free trees to residents who could choose between red oak, bur oak or hickory.

According to Storm Center 7 Meteorologists, this free distribution came at the perfect time since fall is generally considered the best time of year to plant new trees.

However, since some areas have experienced a drought, residents may want to hold off on until it gets cooler.

If you missed your chance to claim some free trees, the Beaver Creek Wetlands Association said it plans to have another giveaway next year in the spring.
