Quinter remembers a time when her family started receiving the paper and how some of her kids began working to make sure other residents got their paper everyday.
“My husband and I have had a newspaper subscription since 1950 or 1951,” she said. “We had six kids - three boys and three girls. Our three boys all had paper routes. I think the oldest may have had a Journal route.”
Quinter has never failed to continue her loyalty to local journalism over the years and enjoys her paper.
“I’m a widow now and live at St. Leonard retirement community in Centerville,” she said. “I still have my subscription and I enjoy it so much.”
Keeping active is a big part of her life now. She just captured first place in the 85-and-older female division in the 15th annual St. Leonard 5K run/walk race.
The race is designated as a fund-raiser for the St. Leonard Foundation, which exists to foster a spirit of generosity and to provide support for demonstrated needs.
