Boat ramps reopen at Caesar Creek Lake

WAYNESVILLE— Caesar Creek Lake water levels are just above normal after rising 19 feet above flood stage from excessive rainfall in April and early May.

“The lake is currently 4 ½ feet above normal flood levels,” says Mark Philips of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, which regulates the lake.

All four boat ramps were open this week, but the docks remain closed, according to Becky Byrge, a Caesar Creek Lake ranger.

Philips said she advises boaters to continue to be cautious while near and in the waters.

The dam, which is three miles north of the mouth of the lake, is releasing water at 2,200 cubic feet per second, according to Sara Sugarman.

The dam helps minimize flooding and is a tributary to Little Miami River.

Ranger’s said the Little Miami River is at normal levels and they hope to continue to release water at the lake until levels are normal as well.

Philips said they hope to allow the lake water level to fall a foot a day until the waters are at the normal summer flood stage.
