The woman who was found dead after a garage fire early Wednesday morning has been identified as 43-year-old Sheila Tucker.

Her death is being investigated as a homicide, but investigators have not yet said how they believe Tucker died, according to Dayton police.

Homicide detectives were called to a garage fire in an alley off McGhee Street and a woman’s body was found in the charred debris.

Authorities said firefighters responded around 2:45 a.m. after getting reports of a garage fire. Once the flames were put out, firefighters discovered the woman’s body on the ground.

Homicide detectives were then called who then first had to call a Hazmat crew. Firefighters also found a mercury spill inside the garage, which had to be contained before investigators could continue their investigation into the body found.
