The Dayton Bomb Squad is investigating a reported explosion that damaged the hood of an SUV and a home, according to a Dayton police report.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Mia Avenue around 2:50 a.m. Friday after receiving a report of an explosion.

“It was just a big boom,” the 911 caller told dispatchers. “The next thing you know is my window is busted out.”

Police discovered “a large crater was left in the hood in the vehicle as the result of an apparent explosion,” a Dayton police report read.  “The apparent blast also caused cosmetic damage to the front of the residence breaking an east facing bedroom window.”

The victim told police he doesn’t know why anyone would have targeted his vehicle or home.

The bomb squad is continuing the investigation into the incident, the report read.
