The Brookville High School gym received a facelift that started at the end of the school year, and it reopens today. The gym floor has been resurfaced, and a new design has been added.

The schools have a maintenance plan for yearly upgrades or fixes to school properties for over the course of the school year. The gym had only been resealed prior to now.

Brookville High School opened 13 years ago, and this is the first time the gym has been stripped from the original finish, according to Superintendent Tom Hopkins.

The project cost $20,000, and the money comes from the permanent improvement funds for the schools. The resurfacing project began at the end of this school year, and the Athletic Department was in charge of the new design idea.

The gym is used for various activities that include physical education classes for the students, sporting events and band concerts.

“It’s a community gathering place used for multiple things,” Hopkins said.

The gym opens today, and the volunteers of the project have stated that it is a lot brighter in the gym than it was before they started the project.

Brookville High School is located at 1 Blue Pride Drive. Visit the district's website or contact Hopkins at (937) 833-2181.
