Burn ban begins in Ohio: What you need to know

Ohio’s annual spring and fall burn ban is now in effect.

In Ohio, open burning is prohibited in March, April, May, October and November between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., according to the Ohio Division of Forestry. The ban includes burning of yard waste, trash and debris.

Open burning is dangerous in the spring and fall when leaves are on the ground and the weather is warm, dry and windy.

There are more than 1,000 wildfires each year in Ohio, according to the Ohio Division of Forestry.
