Caesar Creek Flea Market to open 1 week after fire

The Caesar Creek Flea Market will be open this weekend, just a week after a fire erupted in one the buildings.

Many of the indoor vendors will move outside during business hours, according to a news release.

A vendor recovery fund has been established to accept donations for the Caesar Creek vendors who did not have insurance.

Donations can be dropped off at any Lebanon Citizens National Bank or at the ticket booths at Caesar Creek markets and sister market, Treasure Aisles in Monroe, according to the news release.

A portion of the flea market on Ohio 73 erupted in flames Friday, requiring help from multiple crews before it was put out. More than 100 firefighters battled the blaze, according to the release.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation. The flea market was not open to the public when the fire erupted.

The fire took longer to put out because there are no available fire hydrants at the flea market. All the water was brought to the scene by tankers.

The outdoor market will be open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
