The owner was not painting the side the car struck around 10 p.m. in the 1700 block of Selma Road.
There were no injuries, but Columbia Gas had to shut off service because the meter was damaged.
A building inspector was called to determine whether the house sustained structural damage. Crews said they were not going to move the car until it was determined whether it would be safe to do so.

Springfield police did not say why they believed the driver crashed. The incident remains under investigation.
FIRST REPORT
A car veered off the roadway and struck a home and its gas meter in Springfield.
The crash was reported around 10 p.m. in the 1700 block of Selma Road.
There were only minor injuries reported to the occupant of the vehicle, and it was not clear whether the house sustained any structural damage.
Gas company crews were called to the residence due to damage to the meter.
