Lots of celebs can claim the Gem City as their hometown, including some you may not know about.

Mike Schmidt

Schmidt was born in Dayton on Sept. 27, 1949 and went to Fairview High School before a Hall of Fame baseball career that encompassed 18 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies.

He was a three-time MVP and hit .267 with 548 home runs and 1,595 RBIs during his career,.

Cris Collinsworth

The sportscaster spent his entire NFL career just down I-75 with the Cincinnati Bengals but was actually born right here in Dayton on Jan. 27, 1959, before his family moved to Florida.

Collinsworth’s father was named Abraham Lincoln Collinsworth and was a Kentucky basketball star, winning a national championship with the Wildcats.

Roger Clemens

“Rocket” was born on this date, Aug. 4, 1962, in Dayton. His family lived in Vandalia until he was in high school before moving to Houston.

The two-time World Series champ has more Cy Young Awards for pitching than another other player in history.

Brooklyn Decker

The Sports Illustrated cover model and actress, 31, lived in Kettering and Middletown before her family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where she was discovered as a teen.  She was born on April 12, 1987, in Kettering.

Luke Grimes

The Fifty Shades of Grey actor, 34, was born on Jan. 21, 1984 in Dayton and is a graduate of Dayton Christian High School. He can currently be seen in the Paramount Network series Yellowstone.

Ron Harper

The NBA great was born on Jan. 20, 1964 and grew up in Dayton before leading Miami University to multiple NCAA tournament berths.

He has five NBA championship rings from his years with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers.

Miami University alumni Ron Harper played on five NBA championship basketball teams in his career. His first run was with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen during the Chicago Bulls' three-peat in the late 90s. After Jordan retired, Harper joined Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal to win a pair of titles with the Los Angeles Lakers.
