St. Leonard senior assisted living will host a Patriot Day Celebration to honor veterans and first responders at the Franciscan Center from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A time of reflection will be included.
The special guest speaker will be Lieutenant Colonel Karen P. Kramer, Public Health flight commander, 88th Aerospace Medicine Squadron (AMDS) Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Kramer began her Air Force career in 1984, shortly after graduation from South Hills School of Business and Technology in State College, Pennsylvania.

Dayton Children's Hospital Police Chief Aundray Toney is hosting a special "Good Night Lights" for the one-year anniversary of "Good Night Lights" and the 18th Anniversary of Sept. 11.
Toney asks any available first responders to bring equipment to the hospital to show the patients and families that Dayton cares for them and to honor those lives lost on 9/11.

Dayton
United Way of Greater Dayton and the Dayton Fire Department will host a 9/11 Day of Service from noon to 1 p.m. today at Courthouse Square in Dayton.
Both groups will assemble “After the Fire Kits” that local first responders will distribute at the scene of devastating fires. Volunteers from local companies throughout the community will assemble 50 of these kits that include toiletries, clothing, blankets and other household items.
The Dayton Police Department will be presented with an award for service to the Dayton community.

Carry the Load, in partnership with the National Cemetery Administration U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, is hosting 9/11 Volunteer Day at the Dayton National Cemetery.
Both groups, along with volunteers, will help clean the Dayton National Cemetery to honor the nation’s heroes. They ask you to wear closed-toed shoes and bring work gloves.

The University of Dayton will have a “Blue Mass” to honor first responders at 12:30 p.m. today in the Immaculate Conception Chapel.
“We intentionally chose this day to recognize and bless public safety officers and emergency medical service members who serve and protect the University of Dayton and surrounding communities, and offer prayers for their continued protection and gratitude for all first responders who have risked their lives in service,” said Crystal Sullivan, executive director of campus ministry.
The university’s public safety vehicles will be bless outside the chapel after Mass.

The University of Dayton Student Government Association and ROTC will honor the lives lost on 9/11 with a tribute of flags in the Central Mall at 6 a.m.
The students will place 2,977 flags in the Central Mall near Kennedy Union to honor all the live that were lost in the attacks.

The Kettering, Moraine and Oakwood Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Patriot Day event today from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mandalay Banquet Center on East River Road.
The chamber will have a fire trucks, police cars, rescue equipment and the Kettering Health Helicopter, plus food and games for children. The event will end with a Remembrance Ceremony.

The Beavercreek Police and Fire departments will have a moment of silence and a service to reflect on the events that happened on Sept. 11, 2001.
The ceremony will begin at 8:46 a.m. at the Beavercreek Station, 9/11 Memorial, on North Fairfield Road.

Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care, along with The Greene Towne Center and Kettering Health Network will honor any veteran and first responder that attends a recognition ceremony tonight at 6:30 p.m.
Each honoree will be presented with a certificate, an American flag, a lapel pin, an embroidered star from a flag retired from service and a rose.
Presenting the colors will be Beavercreek High School’s Jr. ROTC. The Kettering Civic Band and the Dayton Philharmonic Vocal Ensemble will perform, and U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Veteran Chris Bussler will provide comments.
The event is at the Greene Town Center.

Bellbrook High School AFROTC Corps of Cadets will honor those fallen heroes and first responders with a 9/11 ceremony at 8:45 a.m. at the flagpole in front of the high school on Upper Bellbrook Road.

Warren County is hosting a 9/11 ceremony from 8:30 am. to 9:05 a.m. to remember the courage, sacrifice and service on Sept. 11, 2001.
Those in attendance are Warren County Fire and EMS services, plus the police chiefs association.
The event is at the 9/11 Memorial on Memorial Drive.
