An inaugural Airmen, Family & Friends Carnival will take place July 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Prairies Chapel Religious Education Facility, 682 Chapel Lane.

The carnival is presented by the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base chapel community and is free for all base personnel, their family members and friends.

Attendees can expect a full carnival experience, with family games, petting zoo, bumper cars and prizes for kids. The event will even include a dunk tank, where special guests, including Chief Master Sgt. Stephen Arbona, 88th Air Base Wing command chief, will take turns getting wet.

The U.S. Air Force Band of Flight’s popular music ensemble, Flight One, will add to the lively atmosphere with their classic rock ’n’ roll style.

Free carnival food will be provided, including hotdogs, hamburgers, corn-on-the-cob, ice cream and funnel cake.

“We want to show Airmen, family and their friends that we’re thankful for them and we’re here to support them,” said DJ Shorter, Protestant parish coordinator. “We also want to get them familiar with what the chapel has to offer them.”

An information booth will be set up at the carnival to answer questions about the chapel community and their ministries.
